The Alzheimer’s Association is our new Charity of the Month for August 2023. The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. Since 1980, the Cleveland Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association has provided free care and support services to individuals and their families living in the Cleveland area. They provide local support groups and the latest educational programs both in-person and virtually.
Right now, there is no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. But we can help change that. Funds we raise will go toward the Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Currently, the Association is investing more than $320 million in over 1000 active best-of-field projects in 54 countries, spanning six continents, focusing on four critical areas: discovery science, early detection, treatments, and prevention.
This cause is very near and dear to our instructor, Charlotte. “My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in September of 2022. We are lucky that she was diagnosed relatively early but that doesn’t change the scary realities of this disease and the helplessness I feel at times. That’s why I want to ride to end Alzheimer’s. Together we can support Alzheimer’s research and work toward a world without Alzheimer’s and other dementias. There are many people out there like my mom who have more life to live, and I want to give them a fighting chance.”
Throughout August, Everybody Cycle will donate $1 to the Alzheimer’s Association for every ride you attend! Also, we have a special charity ride with Charlotte on August 27th at 11:30am where all revenue goes to the organization.
